San Francisco, CA, January 30, 2003 – The Orphanage today released the next edition of its award-winning product, Magic Bullet Suite version 1.1. Comprised of a set of five Adobe After Effects plug-ins, Magic Bullet Suite takes original, high-quality digital video and converts it to 24 frames per second (film speed). Meeting popular demand, Magic Bullet Suite now works on both Macintosh and Windows, and delivers 14 new looks for the popular Look Suite plug-in.
“Getting the ‘look’ of film is everything for the PC community—and Magic Bullet Suite is just the tool to accomplish that. I recently tricked some of my peers by telling them that I shot something on film, when it was really DV footage. They were blown away by Magic Bullet’s performance,” said Windows Beta Tester, David Mintzer of Ideogram Productions.
New Features
“We are extremely pleased to release a cross-platform version of Magic Bullet Suite, which was the most common request by users. Whether you’re shooting DV, HD, or film, Magic Bullet Suite is now a complete solution for mastering your project,” said Stu Maschwitz, CTO at The Orphanage.
Recent Projects
Magic Bullet Suite was used on My Flesh and Blood, a Chaiken Films and HBO/Cinemax production, which won the 2003 Sundance Film Festival’s Audience Award for best documentary. Emmy-Award Winning Director, Jonathan Karsh, relied on Magic Bullet Suite to achieve the cinematic look that was key to winning the prestigious award.
The Orphanage used its proprietary software, Magic Bullet Suite, in the making of Jackass – The Movie (Jackass). Also, Jackass beat earnings estimates by more than three times, becoming one of the largest October openings in history. It was also the largest opening ever for a film shot on standard definition video—ahead of The Blair Witch Project—and the second largest for digital movies in general—behind Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
Pricing and Availability
Magic Bullet Suite, version 1.1 supports After Effects 5.5 and later on Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and Windows 2000/XP operating systems.
There are two versions of the software: Magic Bullet Suite Standard Definition (SD) for $995 USD, which supports NTSC and PAL video solutions, and Magic Bullet Suite High Definition (HD) for $1,995 USD, which has no resolution limit.
