Q: Red Giant has traditionally offered video plug-ins, why are you entering the Photoshop space?

A: Red Giant Software is responding to customer demand. Many users have asked for a Photoshop version of our Magic Bullet Looks tool to allow them to quickly create cinematic looks without the tedium of filter passes and layers. Early in the company's history, we also sold and supported Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop but decided to let our partners at Digital Anarchy manage the product. With the release of PhotoLooks, we have brought Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop back into Red Giant.

Q: What is latest version number of Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop?
 
A: The curent version is 3.1.

 

Q: How is the Red Giant version of Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop 3.1 different from the Digital Anarchy version 3.0?

 

A.The two versions are the same except that 3.1 has been branded with Red Giant Software and the serial numbers were changed.  Also, some corrections and updates were made to the documentation.

Q: How do customers that bought Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop from Digital Anarchy get tech support?

A: Current and new users may receive support through Red Giant Software by visiting our Support page. It is advised to update to 3.1, because earlier versions of Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop will not receive updates. In order to install 3.1, Digital Anarchy customers will need to perform a serial number conversion from their old serial number. Visit: Serial Number conversion.

Q: Will my serial number for Knoll Light Factory 3.0 for Photoshop from Digital Anarchy unlock the Red Giant Software Knoll Light Factory 3.1 for Photoshop?

A: No. You will need to exchange your Digital Anarchy serial number for a Red Giant serial number. You can do that for free on our website. Visit: Serial Number conversion.

Q: What applications does Magic Bullet PhotoLooks support?

 

A.The current version of Magic Bullet PhotoLooks supports Photoshop CS3 and CS4. We are committed to developing versions for other applications like Adobe Lightroom and Apple Aperture but are not announcing dates at this time.

Q: What color mode does Magic Bullet PhotoLooks support?

A: At this time, Photolooks only supports projects that use RGB. CMYK is currently unsupported.

Q: What color space does Magic Bullet PhotoLooks support.

A: The product provides support for previewing a number of color spaces including Adobe RGB, Pro Photo RGB, REC 709, and sRGB. The system process all color based on the sRGB color space.

Tech Support

Q: How much free space is required to render out a photo? Please give some examples.

A: PhotoLooks uses your hard drive as a cache for rendering out files just as Photoshop does. To render, you must have free space on your hard drive to fit the temporary files that PhotoLooks creates. Once the result is rendered, the temporary files are deleted from your disk.

 

The following examples show image dimensions and their resulting disk space requirement.

 

* 4096 x 4096 pixels require about 262 MB
* 8192 x 8192 pixels require - about 1 Gb
* 30,000x 30,000 pixels require about 14.5 GB

Q: Can I buy Knoll Light Factory Pro (video) and Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop as a bundle?

A: There is not a bundle at this time. You can purchase the Light Factory video version and get a discountby simply adding the Light Factory for Photoshop *Upgrade* to your cart at checkout time.

Q: I own Knoll Light Factory Pro or I just purchased Knoll Light Factory Pro 2.5. Will I get Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop at a discount or for free?

A: You can purchase the Photoshop version for $99—a discount of $50 off the list price.

Q: I own Knoll Light Factory 2.0 for Photoshop. Do I qualify for an upgrade?

A: Yes. You can purchase the upgrade to version 3.1 for $99.

Q: I use a Magic Bullet product now, can I cross-grade / get a discount on Magic Bullet PhotoLooks?

A: Yes. Magic Bullet Looks and Magic Bullet Quick Looks customers can get PhotoLooks for just $99—a discount of $100 off the list price.

Q: Will Magic Bullet PhotoLooks be included in Magic Bullet Suite?

A: Not currently, but there will be an update in the second quarter of 2010 that will include PhotoLooks in the Magic Bullet Suite product.
