Red Giant Software Launched

San Francisco, CA, December 9, 2002 - Red Giant Software LLC launched to bring production-proven video tools to editors, effects artists and film professionals. The company is now distributing and fostering ongoing development of two acclaimed application plug-ins; Knoll Light Factory, developed by John Knoll; and Magic Bullet from The Orphanage. Developed in the crucible of feature-film production, these tools belong in the toolbox of any serious professional.

 

Magic Bullet is a suite of five integrated plug-ins for Adobe After Effects 5.5. The suite includes Magic Bullet for converting digital video to a more film-like 24p standard, Look Suite for creating unique film looks or matching on-the-lens filters and post-production processes, as well as the Broadcast Spec, Letterboxer, and Opticals plug-ins. The Magic Bullet suite is available in standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) versions for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. A Windows version is currently in the final testing stage and is scheduled for release in January 2003.

 

Knoll Light Factory 2 upgrades the popular Light Factory plug-in to incorporate 16-bit color support for Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop. The product has also been completely updated for Mac OS X. The complete set of plug-ins is available for Mac OS 9/Mac OS X and Windows 2000/XP platforms.

 

 

Pricing and Availability

Magic Bullet SD costs $995 and Magic Bullet HD $1995. Knoll Light Factory 2 is a plug-in set that includes After Effects and Photoshop versions and is priced at $395. Knoll Lens Flare Pro and Light Factory customers can upgrade to the latest version for $99. The Windows version of Knoll Light Factory 2 for Photoshop will be available in late December.
