Product Updates

If you are looking for the latest version of our software, go to our Update Downloads page.

We recommend updating your software to the latest version as we frequently fix issues and post the latest versions for customers on our Update Downloads page. If you are installing from a DVD, the installers may not be the very latest releases.

Downloading from this Update page will ensure that you are installing the latest version of your software. For example, updates may fix existing bugs or may update your software for compatibility on Mac Intel systems.

What is the Red Giant upgrade/update policy?

Our general company upgrade policy is to only charge for upgrades if we feel we are offering value-added features to the product. When we update a product for compatibility reasons or are fixing known problems, we generally offer these updates at no charge. This policy reflects the amount of engineering time required to produce an update. We hope you find this policy to be equitable and fair.

  • An "Update" is a free downloadable compatibility update.

  • An "Upgrade" is a feature upgrade that adds addition functionality to a product and may include compatibility updates.

Installing

In general, we build our installers to automatically place the plug-ins and associated software in the right place on your hard drive. This means that the next time you launch your host application that the plug-in will be loaded and ready to go.

IMPORTANT: Before installing, please make sure to shut down the host application you will use the plug-in with.

Decompression Software

This is needed to decompress the .Zip or .Sit package that is downladed. Many free versions are available and some OS's have a decompression feature built in. Here are some free decompression utilities that are available: The Unarchiver, StuffIt Expander, 7-Zip, Win-Zip.

Installing on Windows

Individual installers for each Red Giant product and host application are required for Windows installation. The good news is that Red Giant products released after 2007 have all the necessary installers in the same package .zip file.

The default path can be changed manually during installation process if necessary.

Installing on Mac OS X

All new Macintosh installers come with a multi-host installer. This means you can download a single installer and install in any of the supported host applications. You choose your host application during the install process.

Some older products use installers that are packaged individually for each host application.

Authorizing the Software

All software ships as a demo version. To activate in non-demo mode, you will need to enter the serial code that you received via email from Red Giant Software. During installation, you will see a screen with five entry boxes labeled "Serial Number". Type in the serial code number exactly as it appears in our email and the software will be ready to use.

Most of our plug-ins can be registered within the host application they were installed. First apply the plug-in within the host application, then open its Effect Controls and click the "Options" button to register.
