Follow up
I just solved my problem by returning to C4D and saving out my OBJ with another name and reimporting it to Form! works great now. This may help some others with the same issue.
Thanks ...greg

Having the same problem as the others and didn't find the feedback useful. C4D to Form with an editable and multi-sub divided sphere saved out as a wavefront OBJ and brought into Form. Following Harry Franks tutorial step by step and I still was unable to get more than a hand full of particles on my OBJ sphere?. What is the solution to this? since the particle numbers are grayed out and no longer an option.

Matt - you need to subdivide your moderl in a 3D program - that means adding more vertices. Form cannot create a vertex, it can only place particles on existing vertices. so, in C4D or whatever you use, make sure to build your model with lots of polygons (which are connected at vertex points) or to subdivide it before sending it over to Form 2.

Hey I'm struggling to get enough particles for objs - essentially when I import objects they have far too few particles.
Anyone understand what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

No offense to Andrew Kramer...but, you are so simple in your teaching..Very effective and thorough

I noticed that when importing an obj that the particle count in base form is greyed out. I had to increase my subdivisions in maya to increase the particle count

Wow! The fact that I can use Maya geometry (objects) for this is so amazing. And it's not incredibly as complicated as it looks. I mean, it'll take time to master and know what controls to manipulate, but this tutorial made it really simple to just do a cool transformation of a 3D object. I'm blown away!
