I don't know about AE in this regard but if you have eight or nine color/level adjustment layers fighting each other like crazy, the image quality decreases dramatically. If memory serves, in this tutorial there are no less than four curves applied to the same art.It also becomes a bear if you ever want to tweak the colors or repurpose the item. My advice is to get in the ballpark at the start and then tweak it at the end.

hey guys, sorry for my bad english,i`m from russia))) Can you tell me how to create a dark smoke like in Apparition tutorial, but flying(something like in supernatural)???March 16th, 2010 at 5:23 pm
Great thanks a lot. If anyone wants to make this an auror apparate, just add a fill effect of pure white 100% opacity to the smoke layer. It looks great either way.February 5th, 2010 at 4:28 am

Totaly agree with "Kurt",change the name of this tutorial to "Advanced Users","Expert Users Tutorial",or something like that, otherwise most people wont be able to use it fully!November 18th, 2009 at 10:53 am
It's a cool effect, but I feel this tutorial isn't too useful. He shows us how to do the things he does, but he doesn't explain why. Ex. He says change the light position to this instead of saying move the light to the side of your comp so it can shine on the particles.More advanced users could figure it out but for beginners they're just learning the final effect.

Hey everyone,Thanks for the kind words. The fact that you guys are watching the tutorials and learning some stuff makes it all worth it. I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
Steph: Sorry about that, I thought I included that. The clip is # 00135_001_04.
Ian: Thank you very much. You are now my favorite viewer!
Stephanie: I am sorry if it feels rushed. There was a bunch of material to cover and only so much time. You could do multiple hours on that scene and still not cover all of the settings and what they do. If you have any specific questions, post them here or you can post on the creativecow.net trapcode forum.
Everyone else: thanks for the encouragement. If Aharon will have me, I may come back for a repeat performance.
All my best,
Mike

Expelliarmus ! LOLAharon, from one geek to another you rock !
My only slight criticism about the tutorial is that Michael was talking rather fast and almost seemed to be slightly rushing through it.
That said, the content was awesome !
